Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza virus reported in the WHO-Eastern Mediterranean Region, as of 12 December 2300 hours, Cairo time

As of 12 December 2009, 23:00 hours, Cairo time, 46,205 lab or at or y-confirmed cases of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 were rep or ted to WHO by 22 out of 22 Member States of WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. There are 572 related deaths from Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 rep or ted, so far, from 19 Member States in the Region. These deaths were rep or ted from Islamic Republic of Iran (140), Syria (103), Saudi Arabia (81), Egypt (48), Iraq (34), Oman (29),), Kuwait (27), M or occo (23), Yemen (22), Afghanistan (14), Palestine (17), J or dan (9), Bahrain (7), United Arab Emirates (6), Tunisia (6), Lebanon (3), Qatar (1), Pakistan (1)and Libya (1).

Since the last rep or ting date (5 December 2009), an additional 2,555 lab or at or y-confirmed cases of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 were rep or ted from 7 Member States: Egypt (410), Iraq (14), J or dan (83), M or occo (698), Oman (870), Palestine (80) and Tunisia (400). No rep or t was available from other countries. Some countries rep or ted cases retrospectively.
